Appearance

Poiyans are a pink skinned hairless race. They are generally humanoid, albeit with less defined features. A combination of stubby fingers, a flat nose, and a lack of ears, they can easily be mistaken for human from a distance, but become quite obviously different from up close.

As Poiyans are an evolution of a predatory race, they have quite large front facing eyes, and extremely sharp incisors.

Biology

  • Buoyant Form: To allow for the copious consumption of food that Poiyans often exercise, they have developed an ability to fill their soft tissues with an extremely buoyant gas, allowing them to not suffer from the weight of all the food they consume. This has the added effect of allowing them to float and hover when not full.
  • Absorption: Due to their evolutionary track primarily going down the route of increased consumption, when they hit the limit of their bodies ability to adapt to physical consumption, they developed a form of latent telepathy, allowing them to absorb knowledge and abilities from those around them.

Society

Poiyans believe in a culture of sharing. Individualism is frowned upon, and tight-knit familial groups are defined via proximity rather than blood relation. Although they have developed many forms of technology, including interstellar travel, the majority of Poiyans are content staying home and eating. A rare subset of Poiyans choose to go out exploring the stars, taking the matter of finding new food into their own hands, rather than waiting for it to be brought to them.

Religion & Philosophy:
Poiyan religion is largely a worship of food and the land that provides it. Their world, and all others that provide life are sacred, and must not be allowed to be wasted.

Game Notes

Racial Abilities:

  • Unusual Movement Mode - Floating: As a poiyan you are unaffected by difficult terrain and do not take fall damage, you are also able to hover up to a meter off the ground.
  • Shapeshifting - Absorption: When adjacent to an incapacitated creature, you can make physical contact to siphon off a skill or ability of the target.
